Phil Mandella started PMR Race Cars in the backyard of his Upland, Ca house by building a six car garage in the early 1990’s. Phil’s career in drag racing has been lengthy and extremely diversified. He first established himself as an accomplished driver when he won the Super Stock title at the 1984 NHRA Finals in Pomona, Ca and then went on to assume a variety of roles ranging from crew chief duties, chassis modifications to driver instructor.
After 10 years Phil quickly realized that the shop built in his backyard was just not big enough anymore. In the early 2000’s PMR Race Cars moved to Montclair, Ca into a 3500 sq. ft. shop about 10 minutes from the home of the NHRA World Finals and Winternationals (Pomona Raceway).
Almost another 10 years later Phil found it necessary to move PMR Race Cars out of their 3500 sq. ft. shop into something larger to facilitate their needs and accommodate business. Even during a rough economy PMR Race Cars was ready to grow to another level.
Early in 2011 PMR Race Cars moved into a 9500 sq. ft. building in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca and operates alongside Performance Speed & Custom. Located just several minutes from Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Ca it is a great central location for all racers, street rodders and high performance enthusiasts alike. The new facility includes a full speed shop with in stock parts & accessories, chassis jigs, fabrication equipment & tools, complete machine shop, dedicated final assembly areas, dedicated fabrication areas and everything needed to engineer and build quality high performance cars.
